As mobile computing becomes more affordable and pervasive, many new applications are becoming more plausible for personal use. More specifically GPS navigation systems, RFID tags, and many other forms of asset tracking were either non existent, very expensive, or were unable to effectively communicate their position with other devices. However, many new cell phones and other mobile devices have various built in tracking abilities which not only make positioning systems much more affordable, but by nature solve the data transmission impediment. Our project aims to create a robust scalable location tracking infrastructure that will take in to account various positioning technologies, multiple platforms, portability, and user privacy.
